Cohen, Knox Lead Jackets Over Germantown
STARKVILLE - Seniors Bradley Cohen and Tyson Knox combined timely hitting and solid pitching to lead Starkville to a key Region 2 win over Germantown on Tuesday evening at Carlisle Stadium
The region win was the second for the Jackets after knocking off Madison Central in the region opener.
Cohen, who finished with a pair of hits, extended a 1-0 lead in the fourth with a two-run home run over the left field fence to pad SHS's advantage. He added an RBI double in the sixth for the Jackets' fifth run of the night.
Knox kept the Mavericks' offense quiet for 5.2 innings of the contest by scattering four hits and allowing a pair of runs in the final inning of his outing. He collected four strikeouts in the win and aided himself at the plate with a single and scored a pair of runs.
Senior Torian Knox and freshman Cooper Anthony had the other two RBI in the game.
SHS and GHS will face off again on Friday in Madison.
