SHS Punches Championship Game Ticket
JACKSON - Starkville punched it ticket to the MHSAA Class 7A State Championship game on Tuesday with a 37-27 win over Biloxi in the semifinal round at the Mississippi Coliseum.
The Jackets will be looking to bring home a sixth gold ball to Oktibbeha County on Friday against defending 7A champion, Germantown. Tip off is set for 8 p.m. It will be the fourth meeting between the Jackets and Mavericks. SHS has claimed two-of-the-three meetings, including a win the Region 2 Championship.
SHS took a 21-12 lead at the halftime break. BHS trimmed the nine-point defecit in the third quarter as the Jackets' lead down to 27-21. SHS finished with a 10-point fourth quarter to pull away from the Indians.
Senior Jerwan McCarter finished with a team-high 11 points and seven rebounds. Junior Ladanuel Jordan came off the bench for eight points. Junior Tyreq Hendrix added eight points. Senior Terrell Warren, Jr. collected six points.
